This creamy, protein-rich homemade Greek cream cheese is easy to make with just two ingredients. It’s tangy, spreadable, and perfect for healthy snacking or lunch prep.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes active (12–24 hrs passive)
  • Yield: About 1.25 cups

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups full-fat plain Greek yogurt (unsweetened)
  • Cheesecloth or clean kitchen towel

Instructions

  1. Line a strainer or colander with cheesecloth or a clean towel.
  2. Place the strainer over a bowl to catch the draining liquid (whey).
  3. Spoon Greek yogurt into the cloth and fold the edges over the top.
  4. Refrigerate and let it strain for 12 to 24 hours.
    • 12 hours = soft and spreadable
    • 24 hours = thicker, firmer texture
  5. Remove from cloth and transfer to an airtight container.
  6. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Add flavor by mixing in fresh herbs, lemon zest, or garlic after straining.
  • For a sweeter version, add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.
  • If you don’t have cheesecloth, use a clean thin dish towel or coffee filter.
